Unit Clerk PM's Monday - Friday 3pm - 11pm

Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse, the Nursing Unit Clerk is responsible for maintaining the resident's medical records and assuring the smooth functioning of the nursing unit. The Nursing Unit Clerk is also responsible for providing and tracking of supplies to the nursing unit.

Essential Functions

Essential Functions:

o Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, families and co-workers.o Works closely with nursing staff, physicians and residents families in order to provide the best care for the resident.o Maintains all residents' charts in proper sequence, assuring that all records are completed, including vital signs, weights, and heights. Informs supervisor of deficiencies and/or abnormal weight or vital signs immediately.o Maintains all medical records according to state regulations as directed by the Director of Nursing and Medical Director.o Checks Medication Administration Record and makes out requisitions from the lab book daily.o Audits charts regularly noting deficiencies and/or discrepancies.o Mails, tracks, and receives telephone orders. Notifies physicians of tardiness of telephone orders. Places telephone orders on chart after the nurse has seen and noted them.o Maintains all charges accrued by residents.o Orders, distributes and tracks all incontinence products and submits report to the Director of Nursing.o Establishes PAR levels of medical supplies.o Maintains confidentiality of resident information.o Attends all required training, in-service and staff meetings.o Follows company uniform and grooming standards.o Maintains a safe working environment.o Adheres to all policies and procedures of Senior Lifestyle Corporation.


Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements:

o High school diploma or general education degree (GED). At least one year of experience in a health care facility and knowledge of medical terminology.
